Civil Rights and Protections

Justice and dignity must be non-negotiable.

Everyone, no matter their race, income, or identity, deserves to be treated fairly under the law. History and current events show that this principle isn’t always reality in our district.

The Department of Justice found widespread discrimination by sheriff’s deputies in the Antelope Valley just a few years ago, which led to mandated reforms. Hate crimes remain a growing threat. LGBTQ youth, foster children, veterans, and people with disabilities continue to face barriers in schools, services, and workplaces.

I’ll fight to hold law enforcement accountable to the highest standards, strengthen anti-discrimination protections in housing, education, and employment, and expand support for vulnerable groups. Civil rights protections build trust.

That means trust that calling 911 won’t depend on your last name, trust that schools are safe for every student, and trust that veterans will be honored rather than forgotten.

A just community is a stronger, safer community for all.
